This policy explains what personal data A1Stay collects when you book or stay with us, why we collect it and how we protect it. We follow the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
What we collect
- Mobile number — to log you in with an OTP and to send booking updates.
- Name, gender and (optionally) email — for your booking and receipts. Gender decides whether a women-only bed can be booked.
- Photo ID details and photo — collected at check-in, as the law requires for lodging guests.
- Payment details — the amount, the UPI reference number (UTR) and an optional payment screenshot. We never see or store your UPI PIN, card or bank login.
- Booking history — beds, dates, amounts and receipts.
- Technical data — IP address and basic device information, used for security and to stop misuse.
How we use it
- To make, manage and verify your bookings and payments.
- To keep the guest register required by the police and local authorities.
- To contact you about your booking, and to answer your questions.
- To keep our guests and dormitories safe and prevent fraud.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your data. We share it only with: our SMS provider (to deliver OTPs), our hosting provider, and government or police authorities when the law requires it.
How we protect it
- ID numbers are stored encrypted; ID photos and payment screenshots are kept in private storage that only authorised staff can open, and every view is logged.
- On screen, staff see only the last digits of ID numbers.
How long we keep it
Guest register and ID details are kept for as long as the law requires. Other account data is kept while your account is in use and deleted on request, except what we must keep by law.
